okay so it's not exactly a 'sight' but. HI ARE YOU DEAD/HAVE BEEN DEAD/DIED IN CAMP/DEATH IS YOUR FATHER???? Nico can sense anything death-related to the soul etc. so… I just need to know so Nico can properly glare at you once he picks it up. you're messing up the order of things stop it

He can only sense mortal souls, but it's up to you if this only pertains to human souls or not. MORTAL NON-HUMANS WHAT IS GOING ON It'd confuse Nico, that's for sure! If you don't want Nico sensing these things with your character COMMENT TOO it's cool

tl;dr if you're dead or have died or have deathsoul things or the grim reaper resides in your eyeballs, whispers come to me

Thor is really the only one of mine who applies--he was killed and magically revived years before coming to Camp, and has repeatedly encountered and fought with/escaped from Hela, the Norse Goddess of Death, several times since. He is, however, also a god himself, so... yeah. Otherwise immortal.

lol oh god, crossing the streams! Greek and Norse mythology clash again... Marvel hasn't decided that the gods have souls, have they? Because otherwise, Nico will get nothing, just that general feeling of "that...is a god isn't it, oh great." He's used to meeting gods now, and that should be more sad than it is...

I love Norse mythology generally more than Greek actually so this'll be awesome.

Marvel never uses the term "soul" specifically, possibly because they're still hedging their bets regarding whether their gods are legitimately gods or just exceptionally long-lived aliens from another dimension that were worshiped as gods. (I tend to support the former, really--it's a lot simpler.) Instead they use terms like "divine life essence" and "godly life force" which to me means pretty much the same thing as "soul" when you get right down to it--just with the added benefit of being explicitly special and magic. ("Holiness" never seems to be an inherent godly trait in the Marvelverse, with "divine" simply meaning "special and particularly associated with those we're calling 'gods.'")

TL;DR, so--my read is that Thor has something similar enough to a soul that Nico would likely notice it, but still distinct enough from a mortal's soul that he could also notice the difference.

Cool! you did all the theorizing for me, thank you. I had no idea Thor was even a Marvel superhero before his movie, then I was like "ohhhhh that viking guy who's been in Camp for forever is--I get iiiiiit"

Nico will notice just that, then! yayyy a god he can actually tell is a god, this is new and exciting. no guessing involved!
