FIRST IMPRESSIONS Me

wHY HELLO. fun fact, at first Nico thought Takeru's first name was Shiba. after meeting Toko though, and she introduced herself as "Toko. Murasame Toko" or some shit, he realized oh wait, it's a foreign thing. He's not totally stupid. only marginally. usually. I think he mentioned Takeru as Shiba to someone in his intro post, but I forget who. (this is why I have a threadlog)

Nico thinks Takeru's pretty cool! he can tell he's good at what he does, and so he holds him at some level of respect. he can appreciate a good swordsman when he sees one, and he's definitely looking forward to when they spar. Because god does he need the distraction right now. And also because he thinks Takeru will be a challenge! and that's a good thing. He's really hard to read, like with his facial expressions, but Nico's not very expressive either, so he kind of gets it. They can frown at each other vaguely their entire conversation and not be pissed off. (Or he hopes.) Nico's still waiting for Takeru to run off once he realizes he's Creepy and Weird, but hey, why not enjoy it while it lasts?

I think that's it?? oh, and he doesn't get why Takeru's so nice, but that's a problem with everyone here (almost). Why you offer to get me coffee and stuff. Why. is this a politeness thing??

Nico has no idea he's a creeper. he's kind of neutral on the guy, but the agreement thing is cool. they think the same way apparently? so that's cool. both cynical/realistic yayyyyy! so Nico thought he found one beacon in a sea of stupid. when he sees him again he'll be pretty 'oh hey cool it's that guy.'

Nico wasn't consciously thinking it, but POSSIBLE FRIEND???? they seem to get along anyway.

oh yeah, and Haruto! he thinks Haruto is silly. and weird. and kind of a doofus. but he's fun to mess with, and he has amusing reactions. so above neutral would approach again.

NICO FEELS BAD for pressing his questions about Al's Weirdness so much, which is weird. he's a nosy brat and he's always asking pointed questions because what the hell, he thinks he's entitled to it or something. overall, he thinks Al's alright, if frustrating. Why won't you answer questions straight. and why so nice. He didn't really think much more of Alphonse than "that weird and nice guy i talked to" until the de-aged thing, which. brought him to realize he has a brother! that means something! It made him sad, because Nico once had an older sibling and...he doesn't like to think about it. so possible connection thing.

Al is definitely a question that Nico wants to figure out, but he's gonna be more careful about it, and now that he's found so many other weird people here, with their weird situations, he's less focused on it. so Al's been upgraded from Interrogate The Soul --> Talk To Him And Don't Be Horrible. THAT IS A BIG STEP. also, it's useful that Al's the talkative type because wow conversation so that made it easier for Nico to talk to him. which makes him more likely to approach Al again.

so summary y u so nice and you are actually less weird than a lot of the people here, don't know why you're so hung up about it, at least your soul feels natural

OKAY SO Hamel was weird. usually Nico settles right into the feeling he gets from demon-feely people, because it's familiar. he lived in the Underworld! it tends to make him slightly more relaxed and not totally out of his element. conversation gets easier! a smidge. but Hamel is a JERK and he knows how to push Nico's buttons. he's curious about his situation and why he was having a demonic freak out and what do red eyes have to do with anything, but he figures he'll never find out. he'll be keeping an eye out anyway, but Hamel is not the type to divulge information, and he can tell. still a jerk.

WEIRD THING IS THOUGH Hamel probably helped Nico the most to get through that nightmare bullshit. distractions aren't totally healthy, but their arguing kept his mind off of the horribleness. he walked away slightly more stable than when he woke up that night. he has no idea how well it went, but there you go. if Hamel had been nicer Nico would have broken down like he had been planning on why did you have to be so distracting freaking out alone in the forest was the best plan.

Hamel is weird and annoying and loud and gods will you just shut up can't you be serious for one freaking second but i sense a rivalry coming on. well ok, not rival exactly, but one of those things you talk to through grudging acceptance.

ahahaha i was so confused for a second.

Jiu Wu is weird! but not bad. the Was Dead And Came Back thing still bothers him, but Nico is slowly accepting that things are Weird here anyway. still annoying though. he knows what happens to those who are brought back, or try to escape death in his world, and it's not pretty. He's not really worried or anything, just very 'you'll find out soon enough.'

he's alright to talk to, and they have some things in common, as they found out. like world-wide chaos sucking. his world is interesting, if weird (definitely weird), and Jiu Wu talks a lot, enough for both of them! easier on Nico. It definitely helps that Jiu Wu isn't affected by Nico's creepyvibe at all, and that...is new. it's refreshing, and weird, but nice and he's kind of desperate for positive reactions to anything about himself at all. plus, bonus points! Jiu Wu has a brother! and doesn't appear to have parents? NICO FEELS YOU, BRO. to a point.

he basically kept on getting positive stuff from Jiu Wu like holy shit he thought i was older this is awesome so he's probably never going to get rid of Nico, if he notices him so he can approach him. this being social thing is weird...but what else can he do? hide away in the forest and never come out? actually, that's a little tempting...

NEXT TIME MAY BE A BIT AWKWARD THOUGh that whole death flower of doom nightmare thing, well, one of the people Nico thought he had killed was Jiu Wu because WHY NOT~ i decided this before 8D all the people he saw had died before, so

oh my god AkaRed. you don't even know. you don't even know... okay, so you may have an idea. a big idea. but wow. Nico has daddy issues! this is a thing. his father thinks he is Nothing and is canonly saying horrible things to Nico in regards to his sister and Nico's worth. so. there's this older guy who's really really nice! That is AkaRed. and for some reason he just won't stop saying nice things and he's really supportive and wtf. basically...AkaRed is the male presence Nico never had in his life, and wow he doesn't really know what to do with it. there are nice feelings! and sad feelings! and he keeps on asking Nico prying questions, or questions that are prying according to Nico, and he's answering them for some reason, like. he gets talkative! and emotional! and holy shit he wasn't planning on breaking down in front of someone like that. (crying a tiny bit is breaking down for him, shhh)

when they met, Nico took AkaRed's hero speech to heart, if just to mull over. because no one's ever said anything like that to him, and he never thought about what it meant to be a hero in that way. he's only had one example of what a hero is and it's that brazen, in-your-face self-sacrificing kind. Greek myth, whatcha gonna do. so when he thought he had killed people, mortals and otherwise who had come back to life, his guilt increased ten-fold when he saw AkaRed. because holy shit disappointment. he's dangerous! he can't protect the dead afterall, because he must have lost his temper really badly, i mean he can get angry, and now he doesn't trust himself with his powers! so with all of that mixed in with his previous issues, he kind of...opened up somehow with AkaRed and he has no idea why. and it's kind of frustrating. and emotionally exhausting.

basically, Nico felt like he had one person on his side, even though he knew it was temporary. like...holy shit, there's this apparently wisened guy who thinks i could amount to something. let's not ruin that. and then he did! or he thinks he did. life is awesome.

i mean at first he thought AkaRed was this weirdo in a jumpsuit, but then it turned into "huh he's kind of nice" and then it was "oh great he's hero speeching at me", which turned into "wait...he's saying nice things. about me. to me. how do i deal with this" and then the flower thing, and i just. holy shit. Nico can't even handle all of this right now.

so all in all AkaRed is probably very healthy for Nico, but where we are in that thread? he thinks he just lost someone who is pretty cool. not in the awesome way, but in the human way. even though he feels weird. Nico takes positive reinforcement where he can and there is just a lot of feelings here. i think that's it? ASK ME ANYTHING ELSE IF YOU THINK OF IT

haha oh god you have a lot. at least in relation to everyone else. i'm taking them all on because i CAN. maybe one comment at a time...

so, Jade. Jade was cool, or alright anyway. she was normal, and that was pretty grounding on his first day. all these people who had died and come back and were birds or had 35 other souls connected to them or some shit, there was this mortal girl. so of course he was awkward because what is normal conversation, but he thought she was alright. theeeeen I don't think we threaded again until the flower thing? and damn, he really didn't know what to do with that. running into her and she's freaking out, and she's asking him about his problems. he was on his way to the forest to break down all alone and in relative peace and then that plan was ruined, so he tried to kind of push it all inside? and have his real freak out later? and then she just kept being nice, and he was like "well shit that's right i have blood on my shirt don't have a meltdown." he's really surprised that she was so calm in that situation after having been running through camp just like him not minutes before. he'd be impressed if he had the emotional energy for it where they are in our thread right now.

ummmmm and then apparently she knows a demigod? one he's never heard of, but that's not unusual. so...now that I think about it, after the fact she might remind him of Rachel Elizabeth Dare a little bit. which doesn't really mean anything to him because he doesn't know her that well, but still, I just realized something.

i hope i did that right. okay, now Norman! sooo Nico's a little jealous, which I think I mentioned before. from what i gather from canon, and through my headcanon, Nico doesn't usually have actual conversations with the dead. they just answer his questions. but from how Norman was talking about it, Nico gathered that he actually just hangs with them like it's whatever, an every day occurrence. ghosts are for Nico too, but...they never approach him without him calling for them. so, jealous. but not meanly! just like.......wanting his life a little. which is sad. and he knows it. but whatever.

overall, Norman's a pretty cool guy, Nico thinks. his hair is weird, but he can forgive that. he's very proud of himself for not asking why it was spiked so high or something like that as the first thing he said to him. he totally expected Norman to back out the moment Nico started talking about summoning ghosts, and then he obviously got a little nervous when he was talking about the whole King Minos debacle, which...well, Norman didn't. get freaked out. So. brownie points! now he just really wants to be Talks To The Dead buddies and like summon ghosts together and shit, and it'll be great. still expecting him to run away eventually! but for some reason it hasn't happened yet... also, Nico's a little impressed with how Norman dealt with the witch thing. like...Nico hasn't been able to help the dead like that. so that's pretty neat. (he's getting more self-worth and confidence issues from this but he can deal with it. wtf i'm the son of Hades i'm supposed to be better at this ughhhhhhh i suck)

he doesn't know whether or not to consider Norman a friend--he'd like to, but he doesn't know if Norman wants him as a friend and friends are new things to him so...he's just in a constant state of 'i'll be over here'--but he thinks they could be heading in that direction at the very least! let's be weirdos together ok. this shit is normal for us

SO VANYA'S INTERESTING in her normalcy, which is funny because from stalking you from way back, i know that's an issue for her so lol irony. he actually tries really hard to not be a dick around her, because...let's face it, Nico's weak to girls. usually it's the strong-willed girls that he can't say no to, but like...Vanya is all nice and quiet and Nico's just like I....can't....be a jerk.... Don't blurt out everything don't blurt out everything this is going to so backfire. like, if a guy went to grab Nico's hand like that? he woulda backed up like whoa and just been "what the heck stay out of my bubble" but he was just...really thrown off with Vanya just suddenly going for his hand and like...kind of went with it? and doesn't know why? and it wasn't horrible? but still weird and he couldn't stand it for long, hence. :/ he also really does think the clubhouse thing is cool, even though everyone painted it horrible colors and nothing should be that bright ever, are you insane.

at least she hasn't tried to hug him yet. so tl;dr Nico may have a weak spot for Vanya just because she's just this nice girl his age and like...holds herself kind of like he feels, though he hasn't consciously picked up on that. so. yeah. he doesn't think they'll ever be friends, because she seems too soft for that, but i know how Vanya works vaguely, and Nico will not stand a chance.

HELLO HI HELLO. Brianna is interesting, and she has a couple things going for her to get put on Nico's You're Alright List. one, she's not creeped out by him, like at all, which is great and he has no idea why, but he's rolling with it. taking what he can get for the win. two, she's sarcastic and snappy (is that a word) so he can be sarcastic right back and no one's whining about their feelings being hurt. win win! and she's around his age so that helps. okay i'm losing track of shit let's start from the beginning

AT FIRST Nico thought she was annoying. how dare you die and come back, that's not how this works. and then she's all like, hard-to-impress sass, not that he was trying, but her devil-may-care attitude annoyed him. BUT THEN she's all like 'i got powers' and he's like 'o hay me too' and now he's looking forward to sparring with her because....super speed. this could be interesting. basically, he kind of thinks she's strong, but he's not going to let her in on that because he can kind of tell she's already got a big head and he's not adding to that. he may have admitted to Takeru that he thinks she'll kick his ass as he is right now, but you didn't hear that from me

but then she's inviting him to live with her, and that was heavy man. like. "Holy shit, i'm stuck here. i probably shouldn't sleep outside for...however long..i'm here....." not that he would say it like that, but you know what i'm getting at. go with it! Let's see... so he kind of expects Brianna to want something out of him? like...there has to be another reason than 'kids stick together.' not that he would be able to tell if someone was using him anyway LAWL SOB. iiiiiii think that's it? she throws him off, but she's kind of fun to talk to, if fun is the right word. challenging? like she's swinging a sword with every word, and he kind of likes that. blunt is always better than question dodging and fake niceness. so she can take care of herself! that's great! and they agree on some things! that's great too! he's not really sure if they're friends, but they're something. and he'll take it.

actually Damon isn't bad. and Nico keeps forgetting to ask for his name... god Nico why do you suck at this, just introduce yourself already, it's not that hard. at first, he thought he was annoying because douchebaggery and Damon just like, oozes full-of-it-ivity and Nico ain't nobody's fool. /z snap yes he is

but! then Damon was really forward with being dead and made Nico's life easier and he's just like "yes this is how the dead should be, just answer my questions and we can move on, thank you" so that was cool. that moved Damon out of the >( area and into the :/[ area. the bracket is a shrug.

then then Nico and him and the flower thing, that was fun. he was surprisingly not-dickish, or less-dickish, and actually calmed Nico down a little. seriously, for all the asshole airs he puts on, Nico figures he's actually a total loser and like, just randomly steers the kids of Camp in the right direction before walking off pretending to be cool. so...it's unexpected but it turns out Nico thinks Damon is actually nice underneath the assholeness. he's gonna keep rising to whatever bait he brings out, though. AND OH YEAH he appreciates the viagra thing. even though his euphemisms are lost on him. and he doesn't entirely believe the snake blood thing...but doesn't un-believe him either...because he's totally too trusting. not sure if a thing...

so tl;dr Damon's not bad even though he's an ass because Nico thinks he's seen through him and he's actually not been that horrible to Nico. especially compared to some other people, canon and here. Hamel. :|

okay. i'm starting with Ronan because he's more fun (sorry, Billy, ilu both). Ronan is cool! sarcastic wit, apparently dark powers or something--though forever thinking the wizard thing is ridiculous and weird--and gets a lot of the same things! they have shit in common, and that's great. first thing with Ronan, Nico was thinking "possible friend???" because it went really well. he likes him! and he doesn't pretend to be a hero. but then... then he learned he knew Percy, and may have been his friend? for a second he was disappointed, because i mean, it's not like he hates Percy (anymore), but every living person he knows back home, so does Percy. so it's like that followed him here. but then he started making fun of him and Ronan was alright again.

then... hoo, then that stupid nightmare flower thing. god, that sucked (for him) because...I played with his issues. he thought he killed a few people--Rei, Damon, Brianna, Jiu Wu, Kanda, and of course, Ronan! what do they all have in common? They've died before! and came back! and Nico got a taste of the reminder that anyone in any position of power thinks he's a threat and dangerous and evil on his first day here, when Castiel was all like "i'm watchin you" and so. now Nico's thinking that he could kill the has-been-dead here by losing control and now he's kind of wary of himself and wow let's not kill potential friends, if that's even a thing that can happen. (the friend part, not the killing) so that was fun! then the very next night he's kissing Ronan and holyshit can't deal with this.

SO NOW THINGS ARE WEIRD because Nico doesn't...know what to do with himself in regards to who he is, for the time being. what's the point of fixing the system of death here and making it so that death works normally when he could just lose it and make bad things happen to the ones it would affect? it's a stupid thought, especially since he knows their time has come, and they shouldn't even be here YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE RONAN SHDIFAOPH but......as always, Nico has questions to answer, only the answers aren't anywhere but in his own head. can't ask the dead for this one.

so...in summary, Ronan is awesome! Nico kind of thinks Ronan is super powerful or something, like nothing but death can touch him because he kind of carries himself that way, or at least talks that way. and Nico is impressionable. like, literally, in...whichever thread it was, when Ronan said that he knows how it feels to have to rely on others, Nico's first thought was "You? No way" but like hell he was gonna say that out loud. so. yeah. another person who doesn't think he's creepy...... this is a good thing.

OKAY BILLY you are a special fucking snowflake, you know that? Billy is Familiar, because he feels all...Underworldy, vaguely, which I kind of feel bad playing with but whatever, no Word of God i know of that says Nico can't, fuck da police. mostly, Billy's a little above average on Nico's Friendliness/Relaxed/Conversing with/reasons to Talk To The Living meter. he's a little awkward with the conversations, especially since he sucks at this and can't quite figure out how to turn the subject matter away from himself naturally. being the center of a conversation is weird... but Billy's intriguing! like, why does he feel this way...and why the fuck does he think being connected to Hades is a good thing, that was big. Billy gets points for knowing the Underworld has to do with Hades, but he felt really stupid for having mentioned it in the first place because no one else made that connection like seriously, does no one know Greek mythology anymore? god.

iiiii think that's it! Nico will definitely be approaching Billy again, if he's got something to say. and with how Camp is...i'm sure he will.

Jack Frost and Dean!

okay so here's the thing. obviously Nico was really irritated with Dean at first. for one, he claims to have known him before and Nico doesn't remember it, which frustrates him because if it's true, then he's got more memory issues to deal with. thoughts like "was i here before i was ten? but he said i hadn't changed..." and then Dean's all there there puny child and Nico got pissed off. but like...then he started talking about things that Nico gets, and make your own future, and it was really hard to continue to dislike him. family is important to Nico too, or was? is? well, that told him that Dean might not be a total asshole, and the fact that he beat fate? that kind of--no, definitely--got Dean some respect. so. i didn't see that coming at all. but Nico doesn't mind him now, and he sees Dean as proof of the possibility. maybe life doesn't suck as much as he thought. and maybe he can do this. just in a different way than everyone else wants him to. prophecies suck.

so tl;dr when Nico sees Dean again he won't be all pissy, unless he does something to piss him off. this is a step! a step in the right direction. Dean moved out of Grump Level 1. it's all awkward levels from here.

AND NOW JACK. Jack was weird. first off, now he knows two people with the same first name, so this could get confusing. second, Jack is really confusing. and frustrating. Nico's not going to get a straight answer out of him, he can tell. Nico likes straight answers. this is a problem for him. but surprisingly, Jack's not all that bad, like. he surprised a smile out of Nico. i didn't even see that coming. what kind of person answers that question with "fun stuff" and "whatever i want"? Jack also helped push Nico more toward the realization that his questions hurt people, which he hasn't completely figured out yet, but he may just get there. Nico saw it as a case-by-case thing, but really hon, it's everyone.

anyway, so Jack is kind of this Impossible Boy and his situation is intriguing, if weird. like Nico said, he feels human, he acts human, so why doesn't Jack think he's human? :|a but, it's not his problem. as long as Jack doesn't laugh at him again, he's okay in Nico's book. above neutral, above grumpy frowns level unlocked. achievement unlocked: Lonely Preteen Sees Dead People And They WOn't SHut Up.
