[but maybe today he's actually in his room in the Stationhive, floor 2, room 1, Karkat's old room. gray walls, a few knickknacks, an unmade bed, clothes everywhere, and his laptop on his desk. oh, and he has a black electric guitar. suck it. or you know, enjoy the wrinkly puppy running around excitedly]

[or he's in the Dead/Undead HQ that Norman and he have called their own. not too far into the caves, before the medium monsters' territory begins, there's a hallway in a wall that didn't have one before. at the end is a good sized living room, rectangular and comfortably furnished. and yeah, there are probably zombies hanging out in it]

[hell, maybe he shadow-traveled somewhere he didn't mean to. oops, my bad! THE OPTIONS ARE LIMITLESS, MY FRIEND]

The Director? I suppose she isn't a goddess. Though that wouldn't surprise me.

I've yet to see any proof she exists.

I did wonder that when I arrived. Especially with the fiancée story.

I don't know. It's still strange, but it's the only story we have. After seven or eight years, you would think there would be another lead.

There doesn't need to be. We're all stuck where we can't solve the problem.

That's not quite true. This place has changed, and that means it's vulnerable. There's always a way to solve a problem.

What have you done?

Gathered information, explored for any secret routes, tested the barrier . . . Not much in the end, but I'm doing what I can.

[boogerman]

Did any of it come to anything?

[ognesperanza]

Yes, it did. There's more beyond the caves, on the other side of the hill. And the barrier likes to change inanimate objects into animals. And I've gathered enough information to write a book.

There's just something missing.

A reason why is all I care about.

And that, not much.

"Why" is always the hardest answer to find. . . . But if--when I do find out, I'll let you know.

Not asking you to. But I don't withhold information like that.

It's none of my business what anyone else does with it. But once I find a way . . . I have to leave.

No. Those who have died on their world and come back from the dead, only to arrive here don't want to leave. I won't force them back to the Underworld. That's up to them.

Assuming the Underworld exists wherever they came from.

If it didn't, I wouldn't be able to tell they died. It's all one Underworld. I think. I don't know about yours, though.

[a...little nervous, but only because talking to you is weirder than it was. it's awkward a lot of the time, and you're unpredictable. but 100% faith in the Underworld. just not in himself]

I wonder if it wasn't 'my' Hades that faded, but simply the connection to the Underworld from 'my' Earth.

But that . . . is actually more likely. How would that connection even fade . . .

[running through the possibilities in his head. gods, what if that happens to his world? the dead would have nowhere to go. how would that even work? but there's no way, there are too many half-bloods for that to happen . . . right?]
